‘Night Shift at the Museum’ took place two weeks prior to the opening of Miriam Cabessa’s upcoming solo exhibition ‘Night Painting’.
As part of the artist’s ongoing exploration of the act of painting, Cabessa invited theater director Noam Ben Azar and a group of actresses to join her in making a collective work of action painting.
Over the course of five hours, from midnight until dawn, Cabessa and the actresses executed, in front of a live audience, physical, total action painting.
During the action, traces of paint were imprinted on a canvas – a ritualistic event that evoked mental and emotional questions. The results of the action, a large-scale painting and a video was on view at the Museum starting May 19th, 2018.
